Offered primarily to 5 and 6 year-olds who are completing kindergarten, although several older pre-Ks and 1st graders who are first time participants play. Players should be at least 5 years old by August 31st. In T-Ball, players hit off a batting tee. As the season progresses, players will be introduced to soft coach pitch (coach pitches from one knee) to prepare them for the next level. Rules of the game are varied to accommodate the teaching of basic skills and keep the pace of games up. The primary goals of T-Ball are to instruct the children in the fundamentals of baseball, to encourage teamwork and participation in team-based activities, and most importantly to have fun and enjoy success. Rosters are generally composed of between 8 and 12 players, although we try to keep rosters on the smaller end if we have enough coaches to do so. Kids are placed on school area teams. One practice per week with a game, usually on Saturday.
Single A Baseball - A

Primarily 6 and 7 year-olds, with a few less experienced 8 year olds mixed in. Open to both boys and girls. We encourage players to begin in T-ball, but athletic 6 year olds with a high level of interest can play A-ball initially, especially if trying to keep up with classmates, as can first time 7s. Any player with average or better skill development and one year of T-Ball should be ready, although pre-Ks that play often play a second year of T-ball in order to play with classmates in Kindergarten. Teams are formed based on school area. A-ball is entirely coach-pitch, and as in T-ball, a Safety-Soft ball is used. Teams have 1 practice and 1- 2 games per week, normally on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Whether teams play every Saturday depends on whether we have an odd number of teams. Like T-Ball, no score is kept, and the emphasis is again primarily an instructional level that allows kids to learn basic skills and enjoy the team-based environment. Coaches try to concentrate on the fundamentals of catching, throwing, fielding and hitting, and begin to focus on making outs. Outs are tracked for the purposes of moving the game along, but in some cases an inning may include more than 3 outs. By the end of the year some hitters are taking extra bases. Kids will play all over the field. Rosters are generally composed of 9-12 players.
Double A Baseball - AA

Primarily 7 to 9 year olds. Kids are placed on school-area teams. Pitching machines are used early in the season, and as the year moves along the teams transition to a combination of machine and player pitch. A regulation hard baseball is used throughout the season. There are 1-2 practices and 2 games per week, and about 15 games for the season. The focus remains on player skill development and enjoyment. Outs are kept and runs are tracked for the purpose of monitoring the 5-run per inning rule, but winning and losing is not stressed.
At this level the work begins to develop basic pitching and catcher skills. AA is traditionally a level at which there is a range of age levels and some skill differences among teams as we continue to allow teams to stay together as much as possible, which results in a mix of teams with returning players and some that are mostly comprised of kids coming up from A-ball. We encourage the coaches to take this into account as they manage game situations. We also encourage "returning" AA players with strong baseball skills to tryout for AAA. It is daunting to some, but baseball skills are honed in the AAA format through playing with superior players, and the players start to form relationships with kids at other schools that become valuable as they advance into middle school.
Triple A Baseball - AAA

AAA baseball is mostly 9 and 10 year-olds, with a few 11 year olds mixed in. All players participate in an evaluation (try-out) session at the beginning of the year. Players are selected to teams through a draft system conducted by the Managers and the Player Agent, with a goal of forming teams that are comparable in talent levels. Rosters are composed of 11- 13 players. Player pitching is used exclusively in this division. At the completion of the regular season, tournament teams comprised of 9 and 10 year old players are selected to participate in LL and district sponsored tournaments in late-June and early July.
Teams usually practice 2 times per week and play 2 games per week. About 18-20 games for the season with an end of year tournament.
AAA is the first year in which the scorebook is maintained and the win-loss record is recorded. The goal of the coaches should still be to move the kids around to various positions, but by the end of the season those kids showing an aptitude for specific positions will be spending more time in those spots. Development of pitchers and catchers is a coaching focus.
Baseball - Majors

Mostly 11-12 year-olds. All players again participate in an evaluation (try-out) session at the beginning of the year, and by local rule, returning players are drafted to a new team each year. Players are selected to teams through a draft system conducted by the Managers, VP Baseball and the Player Agent, with a goal of forming teams that are comparable in talent levels. Rosters are composed of 10-12 players. Player pitching is used exclusively in this division. At the completion of the regular season, a tournament team is selected from within the Division for participation in tournaments leading to the Little League World Series competition. There are also Honors teams formed that participate in a local tournament operated by LL District 4.
Teams practice 2 times per week and play 2 or 3 games per week. About 20-22 games for the season. This is the most competitive level of traditional Little League. Managers are encouraged to play all players at least 3 or 4 innings (discipline issues aside). Players tend to play the majority of their time at the positions they are best suited for and there is less shuffling around. Pitchers and catchers are decided upon based on experience.
RHLL POLICY ON MULTIPLAYER FEE CAP: For families with multiple players, RHLL has a maximum fee cap of $570 per family. Also, a THPRD ID# is required with registration. Fees are all inclusive. All registration fees include team hat, jersey, and an additional fee to cover amounts paid to THPRD for field use.
